Since 2016, I have served as Community Officer for the Oxfordshire-based fundraising organisation, Play2Give, primarily raising money for Oxford Children's Hospital and Headway Oxfordshire, though our work has supported dozens of charities. So far, Play2Give has raised over £180,000 through a wide-range of fundraising initiatives, which can be found here.
Founded by Andrew Baker BCAv, Play2Give's fundraising contributions have been widely recognised. At Oxford Children's Hospital, we are delighted to have been able to fund the opening of the Play2Give room on Melanie's Ward. We have also been honoured with a range of awards and endorsements (see here), most recently, with our founder Andy winning the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Against Breast Cancer Achievement Awards in October 2019. These accolades, while appreciated, pale in comparison to the emotional reward that seeing the fruits of our work in the lives of people brings. To find out more about Play2Give, please watch our promotional video below (or here).
As Community Officer, I focus on raising awareness of our work in the local community. This includes liaising with local businesses, producing promotional material, and utilising social media campaigns. Over the course of my tenure, I have spearheaded a number of initiatives, including a 'From Local to Global' campaign in which we funded the treatment of 1000 children in sub-Saharan Africa suffering from parasitic worms via the Schistosomiasis Control Initiative, overseen by Imperial College London. The highlight of my role is being able to hand out gifts at Oxford Children's Hospital at Christmas every year dressed as Santa Claus. Over the course of the next year, Play2Give has a range of great events, so do visit our website to find out more!
